Gigabyte GSmart G1305: affordable and functional guglfon

Gigabyte pleases us novelties do not happen very often, but if it still comes to new product, it is guaranteed to be of interest to the buyer: for example, a model of Gigabyte GSmart S1200 is the smallest and affordable Pocket PC running Windows Mobile 6.5 with WVGA-display.

Incidentally, WM: if earlier Gigabyte favored only by this software platform, then from April 2010 in the company's portfolio there are a number of Android-devices. On one of them today and we'll talk more in detail: Meet communicator Gigabyte GSmart G1305.

This unit is one of the most affordable solutions running Android support Google services and powerful functional "charge". Apparently, Gigabyte decided to create a "symmetrical response" to the popular model of HTC Hero; company coped with the problem: models are comparable in performance, but the "gig" at the same time is about 30% cheaper.

We emphasize that it is cheaper - does not mean worse: for example, GSmart G1305 carries on board a very high-quality 3.2-inch touch screen with a resolution of 320x480 pixels and support for technology multitouch (control touch of two fingers - as in the iPhone). At the heart device is Qualcomm MSM7227 processor with a clock frequency of 600 megahertz. For comparison: HTC Hero is built on the 528-megahertz processor. However, the latter apparatus more RAM and ROM: 288 and 512 megabytes, respectively. In GSmart G1305 and that and the other on 256 "meters". However, the speed deficit is not affected: Communicator could be described as nimble.

Design models can be called neutral: perhaps, fall in love with her at first sight is impossible, but it does not cause irritation. The build quality is quite decent, nothing dangling (by the way, the device does not collect in China, and Taiwan, as, for example, communicators HTC), but the plastic could be pokachestvennee. However, once again look at the price tag - for the device for $ 440 more than acceptable. By the way, the communicator rather thin - just 12.5 millimeters. What is not liked, so this is a set of touch keys below the display: hardware buttons with a distinct course would be more appropriate here. But to the typical for the Android-trackball devices do not have any complaints: such a nice ball, comfortable. To connect the charger and the cable has a port microUSB.

And the functionality. Note the camera with a resolution of 5 megapixels (image quality is at the level of the same HTC Hero), the receiver-satellite GPS-navigation, and the controller Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11b / g). In addition, GSmart G1305 supports in 3G-networks (UMTS / HSDPA).

Summary. It is not clear why the company takes the money HTC, if similar in most parameters Gigabyte GSmart G1305 is significantly cheaper (the difference - about $ 200). This unit is a quality and modern Android-communicator middle class, winning a number of characteristics from more expensive devices. For example, some competing models still shipped with the OS Android 1.5, others - do not have the support multitouch. In general, look at the GSmart S1305 worth. But - get ready for the unequal battle with touch buttons. They are frankly uncomfortable.
